Ibrahim Seaga Shaw
Director

Dr Ibrahim Seaga Shaw is currently the Chairman/Information Commissioner, Right to Access Information Commission and Associate Professor in Mass Communication and Journalism at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone.  Before  he joined the Right to Access Information Commission in Sierra Leone in October 2018, he worked as Senior Lecturer in Media and Politics at Northumbria university in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK since September 2011.  He is the author of five books, including Human Rights Journalism (2012) and over 40 boo chapters and journal articles.  He was Secretary General of the International Peace Research Association (IPRA) between 2012 and 2016 following his election at the organisation’s biennial conference in Japan on November 24-28 2012. In 2013, 2015, and 2016, he was nominated Best Lecturer for student-led teaching by the Northumbria Students Union, and in 2014 for an award for Communication for Social Change run by the Centre for Communication for Social Change at Queensland University, Australia.

Nesrin Kenar

Dr Nesrin Kenar isis Assistant Professor in Politics and International Relations in the Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of International Relations, Sakarya University, Turkey.  She was former Vice Dean of Faculty of Political Sciences, Sakarya University and Institutional Coordinator of European Union projects in Sakarya University. Nesrin served as Secretary General of the International Peace Research Association (IPRA) between 2012 and 2016 and President of European Peace Research Association between 2008 and 2012. Nesrin was also a member of the editorial board of Global Peace International Journal. She has published books and papers related to his area of expertise, particularly about Globalization, Religion and Politics, Ethnic Conflicts, Yugoslavia Conflicts, Bosnia-Herzegovina Civil War, International and Foreign Policy Strategies of States, Israel-Palestinian Question.

Senthan Selvarajah
Director

Dr Senthan Selvarajah is an academic in media aand communication at the Unicaf University, Cyprus for its UK programmes. He is an academic and guest lecturer in media and communication in the UK. He is also working as an independent research consultant for several NGOs and research organisations. Previously, he worked as research and publications officer for the Centre for the Study of Human Rights, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He has over 20 years’ experience as a journalist, researcher and consultant. He has published extensively, including books, book chapters and journal articles including Human Rights Journalism and its Nexus to Responsibility to Protect (2021), and presented at numerous conferences. Senthan served as both Executive Committee Member (2016-2018) and Governing Council Member (2014-2018) for the International Peace Research Association (IPRA). He currently serves as the Convener of Media, Conflicts, and Journalism Commission of IPRA.

Dr. Pradeep Dhakal
Director

Dr. Pradeep Dhakal is the Director of Chetanalaya Institute, Nepal. He worked as a Lecturer in Tribhuvan University before joining the Social-Service sector to serve needy and poor people.  Pradeep was the Chief (Member Secretary) of the Pashupati Area Development Trust, one of the prestigious positions appointed by Government of Nepal between 2017-2022. Pradeep was Co-Secretary General of the Asia Pacific Peace Research Association (APPRA) between 2014 – 2017. He is also involved with the movement of Center for Global Nonkilling, Hawaii, USA. He has written several books, including ‘The Forlorn Journey’, ‘The Quest’, ‘Mero Nepal: Shanti ra Samridhiko Margama’.

Rajib Timalsina
Lead for Asia Pacific

Rajib Timalsina is Assistant Professor at the Department of Confict, Peace and Development Studies (CPDS), Tribhuvan University where he lectures on Peace Research Methods, International Humanitarian Law, peace-education, power and politics. Mr. Timalsina is a non-violent communication practitioner and co-director of research project on learning assessment in Nepal.For 2018 – 2020 tenure, he is serving as Governing Council Member at the International Peace Research Association (IPRA) representing Asia-Pacifc region. He has served as research consultant to several projects pertaining to the peace process, culture of peace in schools, trade union and labour, safe migration, livelihood, education, and local governance, gender, social justice and inclusion in post conflict scenario in Nepal and South Asia.

Jacinta Mwende

Dr. Jacinta Mwende Maweu is a Senior Lecturer in Philosophy and Media Studies at the University of Nairobi, Kenya. She holds a PhD in Media Ethics and the Political Economy of the Media from Rhodes University, South Africa, a Master of Arts in Communication and a Master of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. Her key research interests include: Critical Thinking, Socio-Political Philosophy, Environmental ethics, Intercultural Philosophy, Leadership and Governance, Media Ethics, Political Economy of the Media, Media and Human Rights, Peace/ Human rights Journalism.

Vasvi Ciftçioğlu
Lead for Eastern Mediterranean

Vasvi Ciftçioğlu, has been working as a journalist, editor and director in various media organizations on both sides of the island for close to 20 years. His work at the state broadcaster, Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (PIK), started in 2004 as was one of the key directors for Cyprus’ only bi-communal /bilingual television programs, Biz/Emeis. The program which was described as a “bridge of peace” continued for 14 years. After the cancellation of the program, Vasvi continued his film work at the broadcaster, specializing in the creation of bi-communal / bilingual documentaries. Parallel to his television work, Ciftçioğlu, is continuing his studies at the Faculty of Communication, Eastern Mediterranean University. He is in the process of completing his PhD in “Peace Journalism” while at the same time working to implement peace journalism in all his fields of work and study.

Lorenzo Fiorito (LL.M) is a postgraduate law student in London. He has lived, worked, and studied in Canada, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. Lorenzo has contributed to community and NGO media in Canada, several countries across Europe, India, and Sri Lanka. Combining practical and academic experience with the UN, WTO, and the World Bank, Lorenzo’s approach to advocacy identifies shared interests between victims of human-rights violations, and economic and political stakeholders in the international trade and investment legal systems.
