Galli Galli, Local Partner in Nepal of Center for Media, Human Rights & Peacebuilding, organized a round table on “Sovereignty, Security and Learning” on 25th January 2020. The participants from the round table event talked about how coming trends from technology, to climate change and Nepal’s increasingly centrality in geopolitics would impact it’s security and sovereignty.
Specifically the question had been asked what kind of a education system, from basic education to higher education were required to mitigate the emerging threats and take advantage of the emerging opportunities. The mix of knowledgeable discussants – Former Ambassador Dinesh Bhattarai, Retired General Rookmangath Katwal and Management Consultant Sumana Shrestha – and engaged participants – mostly editors and senior reports from newspapers – resulted in a pretty broad and stimulating discussion.
The media people from Nepal also discussed about the preparedness they need to tackle through media reporting on new trends such as technology, to climate change and Nepal’s increasingly centrality in geopolitics.
